Groomer talk - CRUFTS 2017 - my experience and lots of photo's

Hi guys and welcome back to my blog.
Even though crufts has passed, I still wanted to blog about my experience on the first dog show I visited. Let me start with the journey.
I live in Belgium and Crufts is in Birmingham England so you can guess it was a pretty long journey. Leaving at 1AM and arriving at 3PM  is very exhausting! Sitting for so long really didn't help with my lower back pains, but boy was it worth it! On the first day we focused most on the shows and less on the shopping part. I didn't really know what to expect but the event was huge! It was almost impossible to find our way around. Luckily I had a few friends with me who were good at reading maps. I recommend discussing what you want to see in advance if you go with a small group, so everyone get's to see what they want.
We watched a few agility shows and a few judgings but in the end we spended most of the time at the big hall were you could watch the fly-ball competition. It was the first time every seeing this sport! It was amazing! Seeing the pumped up trainers and the over excited dogs. I had to laugh pretty much every time a new team came on as most trainers had to hold their dogs up. They were to excited to start playing.
I'm very happy I to my professional camera with me as I managed to take pictures of so many breeds! They were all groomed to perfection so it was a great opportunity to see!
Keep in mind that this post has over 30 photo's !

What I loved about crufts was, that most dog's weren't in a cage like on shows in Belgium. They were just separated by these green fences and that was it. They all behaved really well! I have seen so many beautiful  dogs, it was unbelievable! I also saw people working on their dogs, grooming them and getting them show ready and saw a lot of different techniques. In a few pictures below you can see how they put in ties to keep the long hair from tangling between shows. I expected it to look painful and being pulled really tight but it actually looked really comfortable for the dog.

Day two was just as exciting as the first one with lots of poodles. It was amazing to see how those people groomed their dogs in all different shapes. Some even knew they would never win as their dog wasn't groomed in the "right" shape, but they didn't care.
Their was also an overload on shops at crufts, going from dog food and threats to bows and bandanas to grooming material, to just decorations! Since it was just my first year grooming, I found it a bit overwhelming and only bought a few items. The best thing I bought was my German Shepherd necklaces I were almost everyday!
My Crufts experience has been amazing and I definitely want go again. What I saw on these two days were people who love their dogs and are just so proud of them! Now i'm looking forward to Groomania which is September the 30th. This show focuses more on the actual grooming of the dogs so perfect for students like me.

I would appreciate it if you would ask me in advance if you want to use any of my photo's ! (copyrights people)
